​Hidden in Plain Sight is an interactive recreation of a teenager's bedroom that reveals subtle warning signs of possible substance misuse. The exhibit is designed to help parents and caregivers recognize everyday items that may indicate risky behaviors. 

More than 700 parents have experienced the display and learned how to start short, frequent conversations with their children about the dangers of substance use. Research shows that when parents set clear expectations that their child not use substances, teens are 50% less likely to experiment.

Influence the Choice provides this exhibit to educate and empower parents with practical tools for communication. Visitors leave with greater awareness and strategies to support healthy, substance-free choices for their students.

According to the 2023 Healthy Youth Survey:
54.1% of students say they've had a conversation with their parents about using alcohol, and
47.6% said they've had a conversation with their parents about using marijuana.
